MOUNT ANAK KRAKATAU ERUPTS CONTINUOUSLY, ALERT LEVEL III STATUS MAINTAINED

Location: Sunda Strait Waters, South Lampung – Banten | September 4–6, 2026

INCIDENT DETAILS: Mount Anak Krakatau is experiencing continuous eruptions with the highest intensity recorded throughout 2026. A lava fountain phenomenon has been observed since Friday night, September 4, 2026, at 23:07 WIB until Saturday morning, September 5, 2026.

ERUPTION CHRONOLOGY:

August 24, 2026: 6 consecutive eruptions occurred from 09:41 to 11:22 WIB, producing ash columns 200–250 meters high.

July 2, 2026: Status raised from Advisory (Level II) to Alert (Level III) at 16:30 WIB.

September 4–5, 2026: Continuous eruptions accompanied by rumbling sounds and loud booms heard as far as the Pasauran Volcano Observation Post (PGA) in Serang. Vibrations were felt up to Labuan, Pandeglang.

OFFICIAL DIRECTIVES:

3-KM Safe Radius from the active crater. Fishermen and tourists are strictly prohibited from conducting activities within this zone.

BNPB: Coastal residents in Banten and Lampung are urged to remain calm. The potential for a tsunami remains low as the growth of the volcano’s body is still relatively small.
