HEADLINE: Indonesian Lawyer Claims Credit for Capital Relocation to Kalimantan, Citing 2026 Geological Disaster Warning

SUB-HEADLINE:
Adv. Andy Roganda Simarmata, SH says the move of Indonesia’s capital to IKN was driven by a prophecy of volcanic eruptions and sinking islands

Tugu, De Eereste Protestate Organisatie Van Kristenen (DEPOK) – +62 news, September 8, 2026 – A prominent Indonesian lawyer has publicly stated that the relocation of Indonesia’s capital from Jakarta to Nusantara in Kalimantan was initiated on his recommendation during the presidency of Ir. Joko Widodo, based on a warning of a major geological disaster in 2026.

Adv. Andy Roganda Simarmata, SH of Jewellawry Law Firm said the decision was made after consultation with a geologist from the University of Indonesia, who was a relative of his. According to Simarmata, the scientist warned before his death that “in 2026, if one mountain in Indonesia erupts, all dormant geological activity will become active, and several islands will sink and disappear from the world map.”

“Because of that, I fought for this alone, even amid opposition,” Simarmata said. “All critical state documents and archives have now been secured in IKN. The Republic of Indonesia has been saved.”

Simarmata, who refers to himself as a Ksatria Piningit — a Javanese term for a ‘Chosen Knight’ destined to protect the nation — said he repeatedly urged “RI-007,” the President of the Republic of Indonesia, to expedite the construction and relocation of the capital to Kalimantan to safeguard the continuity of government.

The Indonesian government officially began moving the capital to Ibu Kota Nusantara [IKN] in East Kalimantan in 2022. The project aims to reduce Jakarta’s environmental burden and place the seat of government in a more geologically stable region.

Simarmata also expressed gratitude to Ir. B. Simarmata of Binamarga for his support.
